Scratching post for cats!

If you have a pet like me, you surely know that it's important for them to receive sometimes a prize, a gift ...and so I absolutely have to talk about some gift idea for our four-legged friends!
Today I show you how to prepare a scratching post! Useful for our cat and also decorative for our home!

What you need:

• 18″ round wood circle
• 4×4 wooden fence post (about 20″ tall)
• drill and long wood screws
• white 4×4″ post cap
• white paint
• 150 ft of 1/4″ colored nylon rope
• staple gun
• electrical tape of the color chosen for the nylon rope.
• Hot glue

METHOD:

1. Attach the post on the round wood circle. Find the middle of platform, place the post in the middle, and use a pencil to trace around the edges of the post where put the screws.
2. Use a drill bit that’s slightly smaller than your wood screws and drill four holes within your marked square that go all the way through to the other side of the platform.
3. Screw in four wood screws from the underside to secure the platform to the pole.
4. Paint the bottom platform with a few coats of white paint.
5. Attach the rope to the bottom of the post using the staple gun.
6. Wrap the rope around the post as tightly as possible. When it comes time to change colors, cut the rope, take the tape of the color of rope and connect the end of the first rope to the beginning of second rope.
7. Remember to wrap tightly and push down on the rows every so often. To finish the rope wrapping, cut the rope and secure the end with electrical tape.
8. Glue the post cap onto the top of post with hot glue.

The scratching post is over! It's true, it's a bit difficult to create it, but the result will please your cat! To attract the cat to use the scratching post, try to sprinkle the pole with catnip!
